Exam Details
The Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT) is a program cosponsored by the College Board and National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC). It's a standardized test that provides firsthand practice for the SAT®. It also gives you a chance to enter NMSC scholarship programs and gain access to college and career planning tools.

This test requires 2 hrs and 10 mins as a whole and it includes 5 sections
Two 25-minute critical reading sections - 48 questions
Two 25-minute math sections - 38 questions
One 30-minute writing skills section - 39 questions
Scoring and Fee Details
PSAT/NMSQT scores are reported on a scale of 20 to 80. The score report also contains Selection Index which determines eligibility in NMSC (National Merit Scholarship Corporation Programs). The Selection Index ranges from 60 to 240 and it is the sum of three scores in each test section.
The fee for the 2009 PSAT/NMSQT is $13.
